How to Create a WhatsApp Link From Your Username

WhatsApp is rolling out @Username handles, letting people message you without knowing your phone number. Here's how to turn yours into a link and QR code you can share anywhere.

Steps

  1. 1. Set your WhatsApp Username

In the WhatsApp app, go to Settings → Profile and set your Username (requires an app version that supports the 2026 rollout).

  2. 2. Add a Username Key (optional)

If WhatsApp assigns you a Username Key to disambiguate you from others with the same username, note it down.

  3. 3. Generate your link

Paste your Username (and Key, if you have one) into the generator on this site.

  4. 4. Copy your link or download your QR code

Use "Copy all" to share your username and key together, or download the QR code as PNG, JPEG, SVG, or PDF.

  5. 5. Share it anywhere

Add it to your bio, business card, email signature, or storefront.

Important: wa.me/username doesn't open a chat automatically yet

As of now, WhatsApp hasn't published a working deep-link format for usernames — wa.me/<username> does not open a chat. Whoever receives your link or QR code needs to open WhatsApp and search for your username manually. If you need a link that works today, use the phone-number generator on the home page instead.

Generate your WhatsApp Username link now.
