About Us
WhatsUsernames.link is a small, independently-run project built to solve one specific problem: WhatsApp is rolling out @usernames, but there was no easy way to turn one into a shareable link people can tap to start chatting.
What we built
WhatsUsernames.link turns your WhatsApp Username or phone number into a wa.me link, a shorter whatsusernames.link link, and a downloadable QR code — entirely in your browser. Beyond the generator, the site also offers a free public REST API, a TypeScript SDK, and tools for the WhatsApp Business Platform's Business-Scoped User IDs (BSUID), all built the same way: free, keyless, and stateless.
Why we built it
As WhatsApp's username rollout reached more regions in 2026, there was still no official way to share a clickable link built from a username, and no clear documentation for developers who wanted to build on top of it. This site fills that gap with a straightforward tool and open documentation, and stays current as WhatsApp's own rollout evolves.
Who's behind it
The project is built and maintained by Ruben, an independent developer. It isn't a company or a team, just one person keeping the tool working, writing the guides, and answering questions.
How it's run
There's no account system and no database: everything you enter runs in your browser and is never sent to or stored on our servers. See our Privacy Policy for details. The site is free to use and funded by ads (Adsterra and Google AdSense) rather than subscriptions.
Independent project
WhatsUsernames.link is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with WhatsApp Inc. or Meta Platforms, Inc. All product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Open source
The code that powers this site, including the API and SDK, is open source on GitHub at github.com/insidedcpulse-spec/whatsuser-link. Contributions, bug reports, and suggestions are welcome.
